I’m now on summer break which means six weeks away from work. Part of me is thrilled that I have no responsibilities for over a month. Part of me is horrified at the prospect of limitless possibilities.

While I have only completed two books so far this year (and abandoned several books that I have started), I have decided that I’m going to try to read as many books as possible in the next six weeks.

Im starting with re-reading The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I haven’t read this book in years, but I remember loving the series. I do own the spin-off book Call Down the Hawk, which I’ve never got around to reading, so maybe once I’m through the original series then I can try that book.

I also want to continue with my re-read of Percy Jackson. I’m up to Sea of Monsters. I’m quite excited for this book. I really enjoyed the first one a few months ago, so I’m looking forward to continuing with the series.

I know it will be a long journey, but I’d really like to get through the whole original series and then re-read Heroes of Olympus as well. I read HoO before the original series back in 2014, and I loved it so much (although the ending of the last book I’m gonna say didn’t happen. Not good). So hopefully over the next year or so maybe, I’ll be able to get through both series.

Another book I want for read this summer is Keeper of the Lost Cities: Neverseen. This is the fourth book in the series. I think I read the third book last summer, and I really enjoyed it, so I’m quite excited to continue. It’s a long book though, spit might take me a while, even if it is a middle grade.

I know a lot of the books I have chosen are middle grade or YA, but I think that will really help me to find it earlier to get through them. I’m also re-reading several books or continuing series, so I hope that will help me to stay interested in the books.

I also want to re-read The Fifth Season by NK Jemisin. In fairness though, I read this book maybe in 2020, or not ong after, and never continued the series. So really, I’m only re-reading this book so I can continue with the others. I’ve completely forgotten everything about this book. I remember it was to do with severe weather, and a mother looking for a kidnapped child. But I don’t really remember much about the characters.

Then there is Caliban’s War, which I started in June 2024, and I’ve still not finished it. I think I’m about three quarters of the way through to be honest. I loved the first ook in the series (Leviathan Wakes). But this second book feels a lot slower. Apparently it’s worth getting through this book for the rest of them though. So I’m going to keep going with it.

I do love the characters and the plot. I don’t know what it is about this book that is feeling so slow. It is quite heavy on politics, but I was enjoying that. I don’t know. I’m going to try to finish it this summer and see where we go from there.

Then the only book on my TBR that is new to me is Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. It is a contemporary, which is quite unusual for me to read. But I’ve heard so many good things about this series, and it just sounds like quite a fun, chill book to read over the summer.

I’m not sure how many of these books I’ll actually get to. My main challenge is to try to read a little bit every day, even if it’s only about 10 pages. I just want to get back into the habit of reading and finding my joy for reading again.

Have you read any of these books? What are your plans for the summer?

Until next time,

Love, Bobbi. Xx.
