So it’s currently Thursday 1st January 2026. Last year wasn’t a great year for reading. I did manage to finish ten books. That’s not bad. But I want to read more.
There used to be a time when I could easily read 30 to 40 books in a year, although in those days I was commuting to work for half an hour to an hour each way.
Now I rarely use public transport to get to work, and when I do it is only for about fifteen minutes.
Anyway, this year I want to put a bigger focus on reading regularly. My main aim is to read for at least fifteen minutes every day. That might not sound like much, but recently I have been struggling to just sit down with a book. So I figured if I can make the task feel really easy then I’ll be more likely to complete it.
2026 is going to be a big year for me. Later this month I am moving out of my parents’ house for the first time, and I’ll be living alone.
This is something I’m super excited about, but it has also been taking up a lot of my time and energy over the past few months.
I’m really hoping that having my own space will enable me to make better use of my free time, and thereby giving me more opportunity to sit quietly and read.
I think it will be good for me to make mkre time for a hobby that doesn’t require the use of a screen. I find that I spend far too much time scrolling through the internet, or playing games on my phone. I want to do more creative hobbies too.
This is going to be a crazy year, and I think there will be times when I struggle, but I also think living alone will be one of the best choices I’ve ever made.
In any case, having my own space to read will be wonderful. And allowing myself time just for reading is important to me. I’m not worried about reading a certain number of books in 2026. I just want to build up the habit of reading every day, and enjoying what I read.
This is going to be a great year for me, and I really want to make the most of every moment.
Do you have any big plans for this year?
What books are you excited to read? And what was your favourit book of 2025?
Until next time,
Love, Bobbi. Xx,
