So I haven’t really been reading an awful lot recently. I’m in the process of moving, and there hasn’t really been a lot of time for reading. However this week is half term, so I’m trying to make the most of actually having some free time and giving myself the chance to read.
The book I’m reading at the moment is A Man Called Ove. I’m pretty sure this book i smore character focused than plot focused, which is fine, ut I’m just not loving it.
I’m about 80 pages in, and I’m kind of tired of following this grumpy old man, and reading about how miserable he is.
I’m hoping things pick up when he finally starts interacting with other characters. The neighbour characters seem a littl emore interesting, but they still kind of irritate me. So I guess we’ll just see how it goes.
I have a few other books that I’m thinking about reading soon, so maybe I’ll just pick up one of those instead.
I started reading Caliban’s War (the second book in The Expanse series) over a year and a half ago, and for some reason I still ahven’t finished it. I’d really like to get on with it, but it’s quite slow. Definitely not as good as the first book in the series, but I’ve heard that the next one is better.
I’m also in the middle of re-reading Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. I read it years ago, and then started re-reading it towardst he end of last year. Again, the protagonist just complains a lot, and kind of annoys me, but I do remember enjoying the plot of this book, and I’d love to finish the series (I only read the first two books before).
Then I’m not too sure. After unpacking all my books this weekend, I’ve realised just how many books I own, and some of them I’m not overly excited about. I want to be excited about reading. I wish I could just pick up a book and fall in love with it. But I’m just not sure at the moment.
I don’t really know what I’m into at the moment. I’ve always enjhoyed fantasy and sci-fi. And I thin I enjoy quest-based plots, or certainly plots that involve a journey or an adventure of some kind.
I wish I read more than I currently do. I haven’t read an awful lot in the past few years, and that kind of frustrates me. I think since I stopped commuting several years ago, I haven’t found as much time to just sit and read.
I definitely need to work on that.
How is your reading going? Are you having any struggles at the moment?
Until next time,
Bobbi. Xx.
