January Wrap Up.

So January wasn’t  a great reading month for me. I didn’t finish any books. I started two, and DNF’d one of them. Honestly, I’m quite disappointed about this. I had hoped to start the test with a strong month of reading to set me up for the rest of the year. Now I’m kind of…

So January wasn’t  a great reading month for me.

I didn’t finish any books. I started two, and DNF’d one of them.

Honestly, I’m quite disappointed about this. I had hoped to start the test with a strong month of reading to set me up for the rest of the year. Now I’m kind of anxious that I won’t read many books in 2025.

And I know that reading a large quantity of books shouldn’t be such an important thing, but I do want to get through all of the books I own. I feel like I’m wasting my time and money by not reading all of these books.

But anyway, I’ll tell you about my January rewards:

The first book I started this year was The Hawkweed Prophecy by Irena Brignull.

I think this book had a really good concept to begin with. There were two girls born at the same time: one from a family of witches and one from a family of humans. The witch appeared to not have any magical powers while the human had a lot of mysterious things happening around her.

They became friends, and it was quite interesting reading about them getting to know how the other one lived.

But then they both started getting a crush on the same boy. And neither of them spoke about it. It was getting in the way of their friendship with him. And it just felt kind of cliché and I started to lose interest.

I read to the half way point and gave up. It just felt like none of the characters were talking to each other about anything. I found it really frustrating.

Maybe I’m just used to reading books and for an older audience, and I’ve grown out of YA books. But I couldn’t finish it.

I then decided to re-read Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I figured that, as I have read this book before, it should be quicker for me to read.

Let’s  be honest, I  didn’t finish it until early February.

So yeah, it took me a bit longer than I had hoped to complete my first book of January. And I didn’t get to as many books as I had hope to at least start in that month. But I’m please that I kept reading, and I’m pleased that I re-read a book that I had loved before, and I’m pleased that I still enjoyed it.

Big Little Lies is a very satisfying book to read.

I know this was a late post. I also want to talk about the books I plan on reading in February, but we’re already half way through February.

I’ll do a late February TBR post soon.

I hope your reading year is going well so far.

Until next time,
Love. Bobbi. Xx.
