This part week was my first week working in admin. It was quite strange for me. I spent the past five and a half years working in childcare, so the environment was completely different.
I am now working in a college rather than a nursery, so the young people I’m working with are much older and more boisterous. Lol.
I have also found that my new job requires much less movement. I spent a lot of time this week just sitting at a desk. In the nursery I would do roughly 12,000 steps per day, but in the college I’m lucky to reach 6,000 steps in a day.
However, the work is very different, and I am finding it interesting. Of course, being my first week, I have had to do a lot of training and getting to know computer systems. It has been interesting and tiring in equal measure. Hahaha.
Anyway, back to the reading.
With starting my new job I have also got back into commuting. I get the bus most days, although the journey is only about fifteen to twenty minutes, so there isn’t an awful lot of time for reading. However I have really tried to make the most of it.
I have also been using my lunch breaks to get a bit of reading in too. Usually i can read about thirty paages during my break, which really helps. No-one seems to use the staff room in the college, so I generally get some quiet to focus on my book.
This week I have been reading Winter by Marissa Meyer. It is the fourth book in the Lunar Chronicles series, and this is my second or third time reading it.
Honestly, I just love this series. The characters are so fun and interesting. It’s a really gentle way to get into the sci-fi genre. This series is a fairytale retelling of Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White, however I don’t feel like this aspect makes the story predictable in any way. It is very much its own story with little references to the fairytales, which I love.
Part of me feels like I’m wasting time by re-reading books. I feel like I have done an awful lot of re-reading this year. Four out of the nine books I have finished so far this year have been books that I have read before. Plus two that I am currently reading.
I want to work on reading more books and getting through all the book I currently own. Parf of me want to do the TBR to Zero challenge that I’ve seen on YouTube, but I think I’ll talk about that in a future post.
I’m glad that I’m finding more time for reading at the moment. I’m really hoping that I can keep it up for a while. I defitnitely still need to work on my reading habit in the evenings and at the weekend, but I’m sure that will come in time.
How is your reading going for the year? Are you reaching your goals?
Until next time,
Love, Bobbi. Xx.
