End of Year Reading Plans.

This year hasn’t been the best for my reading. Last year I had a massive reading slump for about nine months, so really I shouldn’t feel bad about not reading as much as I used to two or three years ago. I really want to start making plans for next year, but I haven’t been…

This year hasn’t been the best for my reading. Last year I had a massive reading slump for about nine months, so really I shouldn’t feel bad about not reading as much as I used to two or three years ago.

I really want to start making plans for next year, but I haven’t been too good at maintaining a reading habit this year, so I’m not really sure what to do about planning next year. Is it worth making a TBR for January when I haven’t even read more than two books each month this year?

But this post isn’t about 2024, it’s about the end of 2023.

I still haven’t finished reading Words of Radience by Brandon Sanderson yet (I started it in September I think). The UK editions some in two parts to make it more manageable. I finished part one this week, (I’m currently having a short break before continuing to the second part) so I’m just over half way through the whole book.

I’ve been loving the story, it was kind of slow for the first 300 pages though, but now lots is happening and I’m excited to get further through the story.

This was a book that I was buddy-reading with my brother and my sister-in-law, but my sister-in-law has already finished it, and my brother is likely to finish the book this week.

I have a bunch of other books that I have started this year and not got around to finishing. I started Memoirs of a Geisha back in February, and I still have about 80 pages left. It got to the point where I thought the story was about to finish, but then it kept on going. It was another buddy read, and my brother said that the ending wasn’t what he had been anticipating.

Maybe I should just knuckle down and read the damn book, but also it’s really slow, and I’m not too sure what’s happening any more (I think I was at the part just after the war, but I couldn’t tell you any exact details).

I also started Scarlet, the second book in the Lunar Chronicles series by Merissa Meyer, in the past couple of months. This is a re-read for me, and also it’s YA so I should be able to get through it fairly easily.

My brother wants me to read the whole of the Dragonball manga in December (just the original series, not Dragonball Z or Dragonball Super). That shold be fun, and a much lighter read than all these dense fantasy novels. It also means that I should be able to give some of my time and energy to other books that I want to finish.

I think the next month and a half will be a decent time for reading, but I’m not too sure how much I’ll actually get finished.

Fingers crossed I can get Words of Radience finished by the end of the year. I think I’ll finish the first part in the next week, and then the second part I could probably manage throughout December.

I think that’s about it.

Let me know what your reading plans are for the end of the year. Have you got many unfinished books from earlier in the year?

Until next time,

Love, Bobbi. Xx.
