There are so many books that I’ve really enjoyed, and that I think would be beautiful to watch on screen. Here are some of them below. Let me know in the comments if you agree with these or not, and if you have any books that you want to see adapted.
The Final Empire (Mistborn Trilogy)

This is an easily accessible high fantasy story for people who are new to adult fantasy. It follows Kelsier and sixteen year old Vin in a heist story involving multiple magic systems based on consuming metals to gain a range of powers.
I think this seriew would work well as a TV or movie adaptation because the writing is incredibly visuale. Sanderson describes the settings, powers, and combat scenes in such a way the I think would translate beautifully to screen.
It would be amazing to be able to watch Vin and Kelsier running across the rooftops of the noble houses, and fighting the Lord Ruler in his grand tower.
Etiquette and Espionage

This is a Young Adult paranormal steampunk fantasy set in the Victorian era, following a girl named Sophronia who goes to a boarding school that floats through the sky, where she learns how to be a spy and an assassin.
This was such a fun series that I’ve read multiple times. Sophronia and her friends have adventures involving steampunk technology, werewolves, and vampires. It was cheeky and charming, and a beautiful display of friendship and bravery.
I think this would be awesome to follow Sophronia through her crazy escapades and daring adventures in an airship where she gets to learn about weapons, poisons, assassination, and the art of being a lady in Victorian Britain.
Jinxed

This is such a fun YA Sci-Fi duology (I feel like it was supposed to be a series, but only two books came out), about a world where technology has advanced, and people have android pets which serve like smartphones.
I really enjoyed reading this series, it’s gentle but exciting the whole way through. It’s a mixture of Robot Wars and Pokemon, in a Young Adult story set in a school for the ultimate computer geeks.
This would look amazing on screen, watching all the different robotic animals battling in giant arenas. It would be facinating to see how this would translate to a movie screen.
Morrigan Crow

I love reading this series. It currently has three books out, another one is expected at the end of 2023, and from what I’ve heard it’s going to be quite a long series in all.
This is a fantasy series following an eleven year old girl called Morrigan Crow who has been told her whole life that she is curse, and she is going to die on the night of the twelfth birthday. Her curse means that everywhere she goes she will bring bad luck. Anyone in the town who is hurt, anything that gets broken, anything at all that goes wrong, is the fault of Morrigan.
Then on the night before her twelfth birthday a mysterious man called Jupiter North whisks her away to a world called Nevermoor, where she is placed into a competition with hundreds of other children to win a place in the Wundrous Society (which is a school and a VIP group for the elite in their world).
I think this would translate well to screen because there are so many magical (and non-magical) abilities to explore. It has positive messages of love and friendship, and of doing good in the world when your choices are hard.
This series has been so much fun to read, and I love exploring each new development in the series.
Skyward (graphic novel)

This is a sci-fi series set in a world with low-gravity, where people can float around their cities. It follows a young girl, whose family was torn apart when gravity was switched off, as she goes on an adventure to try to put things right.
She has to fight against corporate big-wigs and political monsters (as well as real monsters) in order to save the planet she loves from doom.
I think this would be really cool to see on the big screen, watching people flying around a city and fighting giant insects.
Lunar Chronicles

My final choice is a YA sci-fi series based on fairytales. Each book in the series follows a fairytale protagonist (Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White). Except Cinderella is a cyborg, the big bag would is an alien wolf hybrid, and the evil Queen live on the moon.
This series is so much fun, and there is so much character and scenery which I think would look amazing on-screen. It’s like a mashup between Disney princesses and Doctor Who. It’s fun, crazy, and really cute. I think this could be an incredible television show!
So those are some of the books and series that I would love to see adapted for TV and movies. Let me know if there are any books that you think would be awesome to watch on screen.
Until, next time,
Love Bobbi. Xx.
