I know I need to get into a better routine with posting on this blog. I just wanted to write a quick update to my reading so far.

As I said in my last post, I am buddy reading with my brother throughout the year. We started at the beginning of December to get a little head start (it still counts if we don’t finish the book until January), particularly because we chose to read the longest book that I own.

We started reading The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson on 3rd December. Tomorrow (22nd January) we intend to finish it. The plan all along was to read twenty pages per day. A couple of weeks ago we got so into the book that we upped the page count to twenty-five per day, and this week we decided to go up to thirty pages per day. Tomorrow we will be reading the last forty-something pages.

I’m so excited to be finishing this book. It has been so enjoyable throughout, and the last one hundred pages I’ve read has been incredible. It is such a boost to finally be completing the longest book that I own, and it’s wonderful to be able to share the reading experience with my brother.

Aside from the buddy read, I have also started reading a book by myself, which is The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (the thrid and final book to The Inheritance Games series).

I’m about ninety pages in, and it’s pretty good so far. It’s very different from The Way of Kings, of course, being a Young Adult contemporary, but I’m enjoying it as much as I enjoyed the other books in the series, both of which I read in the last two years.

I reckon I could easily finish it within the week, even with starting the next buddy read book tomorrow.

Honestly, I think it’s good to start a new book straight after finishing one, because it helps to keep up your reading momentum, and prevents you from falling into a reading slump. But that could be a topic for another blog post.

So before I sign off, I thought I would tell you what the next buddy read is going to be. It’s a book that I have read before, but not for about ten years. And that book is The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein.

That is going to feel like an absolutely tiny book after reading The Way of Kings. However one of my goals for this year is to complete the Lord of the Rings series. I’ve never read the proper trilogy before, but friends have told me how much they love it, and it’s obviously a very popular book.

I think I might have even persuaded my brother to read the trilogy with me as well, so that’s awesome.

Anyway, I think that update is long enough. Thank you for reading!

Until next time,
Love Bobbi. Xx.
