For 2023, my brother and I have decided that we are going to do a buddy read each month. Seeing as we made the decision to do this back at the end of November, we chose to use December to help us get ahead.
Our main plan for this buddy read is to only read about 20 pages a day. My brother isn’t in the habit of reading too often, and I’ve been in a huge reading slump since March 2022.
Therefore, we chose the longest book we could find, and read half of it in December.
That book was The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. It is over 1100 pages long.
A few minutes before midnght on New Year’s Eve I got to page 580! I had been a little behind schedule for most of December, but I’m finally on track again, and I really need to focus on getting my pages done early each day. I know that if I get behind, then I’m going to lose motivation. Thankfully my brother is awesome at encouraging me to keep going (hence why I read about 200 pages in the last week)!
I’m really excited about this reading challenge, and I’m really hoping that it brings back the joy of reading for me. As I said before, I have been in a reading slump for about ten months now, and that’s making me quite sad.
I’m off to get today’s pages read now. Let me know what your reading plans are for January, and if you like doing buddy reads with your family or friends!
Until next time,
Love, Bobbi. Xx.
